wine with a side of turkey please.

Thanksgiving can be summed up in one word for me this year. Alcohol..... Lots and lots of alcohol. Normally I take table setting and entertaining very seriously. Being that this year was my time to shine, and the turkey torch had been passed my way, you would have thought I would have stayed sober enough to at least light some candles, set the table and take some photos...Nope. Let me re-phrase this.. I got so drunk I made a speech to all my guests, congratulating my "fellow Americans on our win against the British." Thanksgiving was the celebration NOT the 4th of July. Now this may have been a "had to be there moment" or it may have been a "get this girl some water" moment. Either way it was an awkward experience for everyone involved including myself. Apparently I took these photos of my uncompleted table scape's and my sister snapped a few of me and G. I also took one at some point of the crowd chowing down. This particular blurry view basically became the way I was seeing my first turkey day go down.HA! if I wasn't laughing I would be crying :}

Enjoy

Don't worry I was sitting!

New E-decor Project

So My BFF was in the market for a new couch. Being the interior obsessed gal I am, I nearly fell on the floor convulsing thinking I might miss the opportunity to be involved with her purchase. Sadly she lives a 1,000,002 miles away from me. All the way in Newport Beach which is approximately 1 hour and 23 minutes away from me in a car, 6 hours and 55 minutes on a bike, and 22 hours and 11 minutes if I walked. When I have driven there in the past {pre-G} it was sooo not a big deal, however I now have a little monkey still on a 2 nap a day schedule that also happens to loathe car rides over 20 minutes long. What should be a quick trip down south, might as well be a cross country road trip. I decided that the only way I was not gonna cry because I couldn't help my BFF out, was to turn her couch purchase into a whole house e-decor make-over. That's right, I have forced my services onto my poor friend and she now has no choice but to read my emails and buy everything I suggest to her. Thankfully she is cooperative and lets me rant and rave about all things interior design. She also reads my blog and lets me make design boards for her. What are BFF's for if not to entertain the fantasies of there mental friends?? She might be my number one fan when it comes to my design style...or she might just be a really really good friend.

Anyways, here is what we have come up with so far.... It's still a work in progress so stay tuned for the updates!!!

P.S. She is letting me do her bedroom.......I LOVE HER!!

Collector of Sorts

So I have been collecting images and stalking my fave shelter mags for quite some time now and I have a pretty massive collection of various room pictures.. I have kitchens, and offices, and living rooms and dining rooms and vegetable gardens.. I even have dog houses for my imaginary dog... I seriously have it all. The problem is that I now have the opportunity to design my own home and I cannot get my crap together and pick a style. I know what I like day to day and it changes often, but I just don't know what I would like enough to live with.. This is my burden. Let me show you an example of how schizophrenic my design style is.

This week I want my house to look like this!

My head hurts...

Turquoise Tangerine Turkey Table Time

T- T- T- Turkey Time.. and this year its at the our house! So as you know we are pre-op on our houses looming face lift. I have lovingly been passed the Turkey Torch from my Mom's house to our house and I am very very thrilled/stressed. I love to host, don't get me wrong... but our house is pretty un-decorated to say the least. I know family doesn't matter and they will see past the forest green carpet and shiny chintz wallpaper, but none the less I am an interior perfection obsessed weirdo and my house is just silly.  I am a big fan of a wacky color combo so this year I am thinking my thanksgiving color scheme should be as distracting and eye catching as possible! Turquoise and Tangerine is what I came up with. I'll add a little bit of gold and pink tackiness, just to be sure no-one will look at the massive 70's lava rock fireplace!!!

OK not a table scape, but I am inspired by the pretty color combo none the less

Chevron...not the gas station

Obsessed with this trend. I know it may seem like I am a bit late to the party, but I am not. I am just late blogging about it. I bought these custom made drapes from This Little Home on Etsy. Shereen is about as sweet as they come. I asked her for a custom length and width and to add blackout and she did it very fast and very well! I emailed her to ask if she could do other custom things including slip covers and cushions and she said YES. She is Fab so go check it out.. Just look at these drapes.

I know this photo is redundant but THE DRAPES...JUST LOOK AT THEM!!

 FUNKY TILED OR PAINTED FLOORS!!!

Peacock Chairs

So I recently scored some thrift store deals that blew my mind! 100 bucks for these gorgeous pair of wicker peacock chairs and a snazzy wicker egg chair for little G's room. That's right 3 chairs for $ 100 bucks I am torn on what to do with them..... Do I leave them the color that they are now or do I funk them up... ?

Here is what they look like now...

This is the egg style chair I put in G's room..
{ignore the carpet, don't ignore the Banksy hanging on my 14 month olds wall}

This is one of the pair I got....Insanely good deal!
